Best Wire Mesh for Construction and Concrete Reinforcement

Which wire mesh is best for construction and concrete reinforcement?

Short answer: Use GI welded wire mesh: 4" x 4" in 8G or 10G for slabs, 2" x 2" in 10G or 12G for walls and columns, and 1" x 1" in 16G for plastering.
GI Welded Wire Mesh is the standard product for construction reinforcement. For floor slabs and roof slabs, use 4" x 4" aperture, 8 gauge or 10 gauge GI welded mesh. For walls and columns, use 2" x 2" aperture, 10 gauge or 12 gauge. For plastering and rendering work, use 1" x 1" aperture, 16 gauge (also called plaster mesh). Available in rolls (width 1m, 1.2m, 1.5m, 2m) and flat sheets. Galvanized finish resists rust for 8-12 years in normal construction environments.
